Empowering Taekwon-Do: A Journey from Congo to Belgium

In the world of Taekwon-Do, sometimes the most remarkable stories begin with a simple email. Such was the case in 2020 when the Congolese federation reached out for assistance in transitioning from WT to ITF. Little did they know, this would mark the beginning of an incredible journey of collaboration, growth, and empowerment in the realm of martial arts.

At the forefront of this transformative endeavor stood Michael Dittrich, a figure whose passion for Taekwon-Do transcended borders. Not only was he the founder and president of IN-NAE, but he also held the prestigious position of president within the Belgian federation since 2018. With a shared vision for expanding the reach of Taekwon-Do, Michael, alongside Konstantin, embarked on a pivotal trip to Congo in November 2022.

Their mission? To lend their expertise as representatives of the global Taekwon-Do community and assist in organizing Congo's inaugural ITF championships. Despite numerous setbacks and failed plans, their determination prevailed, culminating in a momentous gathering of athletes and enthusiasts eager to embrace this new chapter in their Taekwon-Do journey.

Michael  also organised the very first participation and appearance  of the National DR Congo team at the prestigious World Games taking place in September 2023 in Seoul/ Korea. The steps towards Korea were somehow challenging but in the end perserverance and experinece in administrative matters paved the Congolese way towards South-Korea.

Fast forward to 2024, where reunions with fellow practitioners in Korea reignited the flames of passion and purpose. The next chapter awaited, this time in Kinshasa, where Michael and Konstantin, accompanied by Master O'Brian from Ireland, hosted a Master Class aimed at honing skills and fostering camaraderie amidst challenging weather conditions.

The monsoon rains and scorching heat served as mere obstacles in the face of the unwavering dedication displayed by all involved. Within minutes, the impact of their collective efforts became palpable, as participants absorbed invaluable lessons and techniques, infused with the spirit of Taekwon-Do's founding principles.

Proudly carrying the torch of Taekwon-Do's legacy, Michael, Konstantin, and their fellow practitioners remained steadfast in their mission to spread the art worldwide. Their collaboration transcended geographical boundaries, embodying the essence of unity and mutual respect that defines the global Taekwon-Do community.

As the journey continues, a new chapter beckons: the eagerly anticipated visit of the Congolese national team to Belgium in September. Amidst competitions and training sessions, bonds will strengthen, skills will sharpen, and friendships will flourish, further cementing the bonds forged through the shared love of Taekwon-Do.

In the end, this is more than just a story of martial arts. It's a testament to the power of collaboration, perseverance, and the unyielding spirit of those who dare to dream big. Through their collective efforts, Taekwon-Do continues to empower individuals and communities, transcending boundaries and inspiring generations to come.
